C.L. Ranch Hunts: Guinn Outfitting manages
the wildlife and hunting on one of Alberta’s premiere
cattle ranches, with thousands of acres of private property.
This hunting zone has one of the largest elk populations in
the province. Our total permit numbers for this ranch are 3
rifle and 5 archery per year, so advance booking is a must.
C.L. Ranch is situated one half hour drive west of the city
of Calgary. This is foothill country, up against the front
range of the Canadian Rockies. Most of the ranch can be accessed
by vehicle which enables all hunters to have an excellent
chance at a good bull elk.
Accommodation is a cozy ranch house situated a couple of
miles from the main ranch operation. Meals that are supplied
you’ll find, first class; plan on gaining a few pounds
during your stay with us. All hunting is done right from the
cabin, either on foot or within a short driving distance.
Since 1993 the success rate on our rifle hunts has been 85%
and the last three years 100%. This past year we took one
bull over 350 B&C and another nice 6 x 7 that was just
under. This hunt has a very high success on six point elk
and the opportunity at a really big one. Season dates are
from October 25th to the end of November; the first week being
the best.
Mountain Hunts: The Mountains of Kananaskis make an ideal
setting for a traditional horseback hunt. High success rate,
with a six point minimum. Only two permits per year are offered
to non-residents and a limited number for residents, which
equate to fine trophy animals. We were again 100% this past
fall with the largest being 353 B&C.
Accommodation, while on this hunt is split between my ranch

which has a 10,000 sq. ft. lodge and trophy room and one of
our back country tent camps. Our family are into the third
generation outfitting in this area. Season dates are September
17th. Mule Deer and Black Bear can also be added to this hunt.
